Super Sexy Sounds of The Sea

This is an oldie-but-a-goodie illo of Jefe, from Scurvy Dogs. It's actually, perhaps, my most favorite illustration of Jefe that I've ever done. Uber-Editor exxtreme, Maureen McTigue, is in possession of the original art, which was commissioned to accompany Andrew's and my interview in Vampirella magazine all those many moons ago.

SAGE Magazine Cartoon

I found this cartoon of mine recently, which was published in the first issue of Yale's environmental studies magazine, SAGE.
Personally, I've always had a hard time with the "cartoon" format. Either single-panel or 3-panel. My mind just doesn't seem to work that way, so everytime I do one, it's like pulling teeth to get concepts I like. I'm sure if I practiced more, it would come easier.

New Addition
It wouldn't be Summer without me adding something to the garage. Well, here it is: '67 Pontiac Catalina. Not sure what I'm going to do with it yet. Just cruise it around, I suppose.

STAPLE! Austin 2008
Yessss. Had a fabulous trip to Austin (my yearly trip out there) for the STAPLE show once again.
Photo courtesy of the benevolent David Hopkins.
Rob Osborne (www.robosborne.net) and I manned a table, drew a bunch of sketches, sold a bunch of books, and had a bunch of fun. Can't wait for next year's show.
My thanks to everyone that came out, stopped by to say hi, gave some nice words about Scurvy Dogs or American Space Ninja, or asked when new material was coming out.
Every time I'm out there, it seems like I meet new fans of the books, which is a tribute, of course, to the love we're shown in Austin by Austin Books (http://www.austinbooks.com) and The Rogues Gallery (http://roguesgallerytx.com/). So thanks again to Brad, Brandon, Dave, Randy, and, finally, Uncle Staple himself.
I'll post a gallery of the weekend's sketches, as soon as I get the pix back from Mr. Osborne.

American Space Ninja (In Space)
This post shoulda been up a year ago. Oh well.
Andrew Boyd and I (Ryan Yount) have teamed up again to produce the "spiritual successor" to Scurvy Dogs...
... American Space Ninja (In Space).
One issue, printed ashcan-size (read: minicomic) was produced for last year's STAPLE show in Austin. We still have some copies left. Brian @ Khepri would have them, but I was too lazy to mail him a stack.
So if you want one, you'll have to pester me.
