Pottery Barn uses these illustrations in a pre-visualization way, almost to 'storyboard' their catalogs before they actually produce the photoshoots.

They tell me what furniture collections they will feature, which product groupings they'd like to see in each spread, and then I draw them up in perspective, adding a loose and suggestive background based on where they're going to be shooting. They want the furniture/product to be clearly recognizable but they want the drawings to be somewhat loose and sketchy.
